How to gain work experience?
If you’re new to the industry or you want to work with horses you need to get as much “hands-on” experience as possible: volunteer, get involved in equestrian events, assist at a stable yard/riding school/stud/racing yard/training show/pony camps etc. during holidays/weekends. Request written references for work you’re involved in, outlining your duties and responsibilities. Most importantly in the equine industry, you will need to be: • flexible • willing to travel • prepared to work hard • prepared to work after-hours, weekends and public holidays!
